Dual-Ended Combat Arms Earplug Lawsuits

Have you been diagnosed with permanent hearing damage after military service? Some 3M Company earplugs have been found to be defective and may be the cause of your hearing loss or tinnitus.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) recently reached a settlement with 3M over allegations it knowingly sold its dual-ended Combat Arms earplugs with design defects that may result in ineffective hearing protection. Tinnitus and hearing loss are two of the most common service-connected disability claims. If you served in the military between 2003-2015, were issued 3M earplugs during your service, and suffer from hearing loss, you may be entitled to recover compensation.

Our team at ‘MAGGIO LAW wants to help you or your loved ones understand your options. During a free consultation, we can discuss the facts and answer any questions you may have about the 3M combat arms settlement. Financial compensation may be available to cover medical bills, pain and suffering, lost earnings, and other benefits.

Types of Injuries Caused by Defective 3M Earplugs

The Combat Arms earplugs were designed to provide protection from extremely loud noises while allowing softer sounds to come through, an ideal choice for members of the military, police, and others who needed protection without sacrificing the ability to hear verbal orders from commanding officers or approaching enemy combatants. Unfortunately, these earplugs did not live up to such claims.

Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against 3M, alleging such injuries as:

  • Partial hearing loss
  • Tinnitus
  • Loss of balance
  • Deafness

These lawsuits have claimed that the stem of the double-ended earplug was too short to provide a proper fit and, therefore, adequate hearing protection. This can be attributed to the design of the earplug itself as well as a lack of appropriate instructions for use.

Who Qualifies?

3M’s dual-ended Combat Arms earplugs were sold to the U.S. government and provided to servicemembers from 2003 to 2015, when 3M voluntarily discontinued their production and sale. There was no recall issued, however, which means some servicemembers or others may still be using these defective earplugs.

You may qualify for compensation if you used Combat Arms earplugs during military service, as a police officer, or even for personal use. Current lawsuits specifically involve version two of these earplugs, but if you have any concerns about hearing loss or any injury caused by a defective product, ‘MAGGIO LAW may be able to help. Our Jackson 3M lawsuit attorneys are standing by to offer the service, guidance, and representation you deserve.

"These people treated me as if I was family, and were caring and empathetic while we discussed our business."

There wasn’t a question they couldn’t answer for me and if that certain staff member was unsure, they would find the person there who could accurately answer my question, as opposed to giving me some sort of educated guess.
