Workers’ Comp – Step 1
After you seek emergency care and all necessary medical treatment, you will need to notify your employer. To account for extenuating circumstances and other delays, the MWCC allows you up to 30 days to make this notification.
If you do not report your injury or illness, however, your claim could be jeopardized.
Workers’ Comp – Step 2
Once you report your accident or ailment to your employer, they are responsible for notifying the workers’ comp insurance company and/or the MWCC. This is usually where problems start to occur.
If your employer misleads you or fails to report your injury or illness, you may need legal help. Typically, you will know when your employer has taken the appropriate steps when your workplace insurer contacts you. You may need to take phone calls or complete paperwork to get the appropriate benefits.
